I managed to get into the Japan Centre to buy up a number of tasty snacks that I'd considered purchasing at the October MCM before realising that the Japan Centre wouldn't be there. As I'd been reading about London Underground delays and cancellations I decided to walk, so from Paddington I made a roundabout way toward Hyde Park where I cut through the swathes of Poodles Greyhounds & Dachshunds until I got to Piccadilly. I then made my way due east, passing the Embassy, Bafta & the Royal Academy of Arts before reaching the area I knew the Japan Centre to be.
But it had been some time since I last visited the Japan Centre & so I was mildly surprised to discover a building site in its place. I suddenly remembered mention of The Japan Centre opening a second store on Regent Street, so I casually strolled down Regent Street keeping an eye out for the Japan Centre until I found myself at Oxford Street & the amusing traffic light system that stops traffic in all directions giving people 25 seconds to scramble to the other side of the street before the Traffic starts again.
I then strolled down Oxford Street towards Tottenham Court Road where I took note of the construction site of the new Tottenham Court Road Underground Station for the Crossrail link before popping in to Forbidden Planet where I noticed that all their stock of Titan Books editions of Dark Horse Comics releases of Oh My Goddess! an Eden: It's an Endless World were reduced to almost £1 before making my way to Orbital to see if they'd managed to put Stir Fried Product Back on the shelf but found that they'd actually cut back on the space allocated to small press from two spin racks to a tiny shelf to one side of the store.
I considered asking for my stock back (if they still had it) but instead decided to make my way full circle back towards Piccadilly Circus where it came to my attention that the Japan Centre WAS on Regent Street, just not the Regent Street I'd been walking down. I found the store, made my way in & forgot what I'd gone there for.
In the end I bought some Taiyaki, Melon Pan, Bulldog Cutlet Sauce, Wasabi Peas & Shigekix Soda Candy after strolling around the store considering what to buy. I had considered buying some ceramic products, but having walked a few metres I noticed a split in the bag I'd been given, if I'd bought anything ceramic, it would probably have caused the bag to split. So I made my way back to Paddington & halfway through Hyde Park I could feel my calves begin to lock up as I'd been walking around almost non stop for the better part of three hours so it was something of a small miracle that I was able to find a train heading home waiting on the platfrom as I arrived.
