When I first read recent news about a Twilight Graphic Novel, my first thought was of the three part prestige format mini series written by Howard Chaykin & illustrated by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez published by DC way back in 1990, rather than Alan Moore's aborted Twilight of the Superheroes which is often shortened to Twilight. But as it turns out Yen Press, an imprint of Hachette is adapting a series of novels published by Hachettes Little Brown Books imprint. Deb Aoki has some preview images on her Manga Blog (so go there if you really want to see them) but looking at them, I can't help but be reminded about the Late Michael Jackson, who's life will be retold in a Manga by Brazilian artists Fabio Shin and Rafael Kirscher and written by Ledo Viera & published by Brazilian publisher Seoman next year. But as Deb has already pointed out, Yen's Press release doesn't mention the term 'manga' or even 'manhwa' but I don't seem to recall them using these terms when the refer to Nightschool: the Weirn Books, Maximum Ride or even World of Quest.
While I'm not that bothered by Twilight at the moment as I find myself watching True Blood which replaces Dexter on FX. While I haven't been too enamoured with the portrayal of Vampires on television as they are often over simplified abbreviations of Bram Stokers Novel, but I haven't actually read his book, even though I've had a hardback edition since Francis Ford Coppola filmed his adaptation. But what really sets True Blood apart from the rest of the dross I'm not watching are the characters & the way they interract with each other.

There's also the unusual concept that Vampire blood can be used by Junkies to get a fix. But how do they ingest it? Do they drink it, inject it or boil it into a powder & snort a line of it?!
I may end up reading Dead Until Dark, the novel that is the basis for True Blood, but it'll have to wait until the end of the first series.
